Cross Directional Control of Web Forming Processes - Actuator Saturation
Summary
This laboratory is the second in a series of laboratories on Web forming processes.
This laboratory focuses on the issue of input constraints in a typical cross-directional control application.

Part B of this Virtual Lab will focus on the issue of input constraints in a typical cross directional control application.
Prerequisites
The background knowledge that students are assumed to have includes:
- Design of PI controllers
- Basic matrix analysis; including matrix manipulation, transpose and inverse of a matrix
- Simple antiwindup for PID control
- Singular value analysis
Learning Objectives
The learning objectives of this laboratory are:
- Effect of actuator saturation.
- Study of several type of constraints typical of web forming processes.
- Investigation of picketing in web forming processes.
- Design of antiwindup for PID control.
- Multivariable Antiwindup limited to low spatial frequencies.
- Multivariable Antiwindup with variable spatial frequencies.
- Robustness issues for multivariable control.
